Why we picked it
A push cart that grows with a new walker. At first it is something sturdy to lean on and push across the room; within a few months the shape sorter on top and the scanner that lights up and makes sounds become the point, and the six pieces of play food get "bought" and "cooked" over and over. The handle has three height settings, so it fits an early walker and a two-year-old.
Why it made our list: it does three things toddlers do at this age, pushing, sorting and pretending, in one toy that does not need a table or a play mat. The Toy Association named it 2025 Toy of the Year in the infant/toddler category.
Before you buy: Radio Flyer's age grade is 1+. The scanner takes three AAA batteries, which are included, and the volume is adjustable. The basket holds up to 10 lb. Look at how the play food is stored; loose pieces go missing under sofas. Amazon lists the same product as the "Scan & Sort Shopping Cart".
